Below you can see the area that I've set up for Kindermusik classes. The carpeted area is where we will sing, dance, play and make music together. I will post the outline for each class on the whiteboard so parents can refer to it throughout our class time. The colorful bins and baskets hold our instruments and materials. I only roll the rugs out during class time. Otherwise, they are rolled up and pushed against the wall. Rugs are vacuumed thoroughly before and after each Kindermusik session. Additionally, instruments are cleaned and sanitized between classes.
In this view you can see all the natural light we get in the studio area from several floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows. It's wonderful to have such an open feel in a basement studio.
Below you can see how the studio can be set up for individual tutoring sessions. I can easily set up a table and a floor lamp, with tutoring activities posted on the white board.
And here is where I will offer piano lessons. The piano area is located just off the Kindermusik area. During Kindermusik class, the chairs shown in this photo will be located elsewhere and the piano will be draped with a piece of fabric to "hide" it from little hands that will surely want to touch those keys.
