About Miss Laura

Hi!  I'm Miss Laura (or you can just call me Laura!).  I am a 40-something homeschooling mama to two fantastic boys, wife to a great guy, and a passionate educator.  I love learning, and I love to teach.

I am thrilled to be able to offer unique learning and creative activities for children in the Glenwood, IA area.  During the school year I offer semester-long clubs that meet monthly on early out Wednesdays.  Current clubs being offered are Beginning Sewing Club, Advanced Sewing Club and Art Club.  All materials are included in club tuition.  Each month I plan several creative and innovative activities that allow children to explore their imagination and develop confidence and new skills.

In addition, I offer 4-day camps during the summer.  For summer 2013, I'm planning to offer the following:  Fiber Arts Camp, Writing Camp, Arts & Crafts Camp, Builder's Camp and Doll Camp.  Stay tuned for more details on these unique opportunities for your child.

My professional background is in Elementary and Special Education.  I have a B.A. degree in Elementary and Special Education and an M.A. in Special Education from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.  In addition, I am an AMS certified Montessori preschool teacher.  With over 20 years of professional teaching experience, I can truthfully say that I love working with children and their parents.

I am pleased to be able to offer classes in my home studio.  If you would like to see photos of the studio, please click on the "Studio" tab at the top of the page.
